Beginning this kitchen from bare bones didn't instill a bit of fear into this designer. Instead, she saw it as an opportunity to make it a central, congregating point of the home. The expanse of this kitchen allows family, friends, and visitors to gather in a comfortable, livable, yet breathtaking space.
The features of this room include state of the art applicances, granite countertops, and antique door knob hardware. Hand picked antique carved walnut mouldings accent the custom range hood, flanked by two vintage, Spanish pendants.
With incredible pieces like this, who wouldn't want to stay home and cook in this fab kitchen?
The client for this particular project had no fear of bold colors, unusual shapes, and intriguing textures-- It was also an opportunity to utilize the client's expansive art collection. This gave an opportunity for eye-catching pieces like the Terrance chandelier above the dining table, which was inspired by the 1927 film Metropolis, or the custom upholstered arm chair in a vibrant red.
It was very important to keep the main walls neutral to allow the pieces to speak on their own, but the careful choice of paint colors gave pieces like the "Harry" mirror to make an even bigger impact.
The concept of this room began with Pantone 2016 Color of the Year: Rose Quartz, which you will see as the accent color on the ceiling, as well as various accessories. This room encourages friends to leave this phones in their pockets, kick their shoes off, and sink into the custom, hand-tufted Hickory Chair sofa. An ambitious mix of metals in the antique, gilded gold mirror; the hand-rubbed, brass ceiling fixture; and the heavy iron in the "Butterflies for Brains" sculpture bring in a unique element of "old-meets-new".
